Attending horse shows requires membership in different organizations that sponsor them. The different organizations also have award programs that you can compete in.
Join USEF, United States Equestrian Foundation.
Membership in this organization supports competitons at the national, regional and zone level. You can accumulate points towards USEF year end awards in various divisions. See the web site for details of the organization, competitive divisions and membership application. Horse recording applications and renewals are also found on this site.
You must also be a member of USHJA to compete at horse shows. One combined membership application can be found at the USEF web site.
Join WHCR program, World Champion Hunter Rider
This allows you to participate in the World Champion Hunter Rider Awards program. (See above link for pragram details) You accumulate points at select horse shows to compete for regional and national awards. You can join the WCHR program at the USHJA web site.

Maclay Medal program membership:
Join WSHJA, Washington State Hunter Jumper Association www.wshja.org . Membership in this organization allows you to accumulate points in state and national level horse shows and compete for year end awards in various divisions. You may compete for year end awards in the Oregon Hunter jumper association if you will be showing in at least 3 shows in Oregon and competing in the same division at 3 shows. See the web site for details of the association, competitive divisions, requirements for awards and membership application.
Horse Show Fees
Individual Show Fees:
Each horse show has entry fees/costs that are listed on its prize list. Visit the different web sites for this information. The website links are listed by the individual horse show on the schedule list. These fees are paid directly to the horse show by the person showing. Some shows have credit card payments available, while others only allow checks. A deposit check will be collected to be sent with each horse show entry. Horse show entries will be completed by the trainer.
Hillcrest Fees:
The Trainer will arrange for transport of the horse and supervise all care and training while away at shows. Clients are responsible for their share of feed and shavings, grooming and tack stalls, medication, landscaping, laundry and staff hotel/travel expenses in addition to the trainer fees. This will be calculated at each show and added to the final weekly show bill.
Grooming, entry and show fees, braiding, vet and farrier fees must be directly paid by the client while at the show. If not, a 15% charge will be added to client bill for fees that have to be covered by the trainer.
Trainer show day charges: Daily: $75
Show grooming inlcuding, lungeing, bathing, wrapping, tacking, untacking, unbraiding and general care is provided by the grooms. Tipping is expected and a minimun of $50/week is standard per horse.

Horse Show Necessities
While at a horse show you need a Hillcrest tack trunk to store your equipment and tack in safely. Talk to Heidi about ordering a trunk if you don't have one. Heidi can also arrange for any hillcrest training jackets you may want to help represent our team.
